Heh! Heh! Heh! All ah could do is laugh, yes boy… alyuh eh see how dem boys peltin’ words at each odder in true jamette style! Ah talkin’ about de ongoin’ battle between the PM Bas and de village Ram , we AG.
Man, Bas say it have ah Judas in de party, how people who get to power on he back, now ungrateful an’ backstabbin’. Ramesh say he happy to help him find de Judas, but rest assured he not in de Party Executive. How no “divider” go be allowed to run on de party slate… Ram say it is not de prerogative of de PM, but de Party Executive (which incidentally he controls) who determines who will run..
Bas say how before bachac dead it does get wings an’ whom de gods wish to destroy de first make mad an’ dat he go have to purge de party of some “undesirables”….
Ram counter wit’ nobody could put him in de
political cemetery… man, is high noon! An’ on top of dat , Bas say he callin’
elections if de Privy Council declare he two candidates illegal…
Maddening, de Oppostion Leader start to
panic… how it go look bad to call two elections in one year, it go traumatise
de country, it could cause civil unrest, etc…. quite true, but de real reason
is, he fraid! Because if he lose de election he eh have nowhere to go except
out. He was hopin’ he woulda get into government by ah legal “coup” an’
not have to face de populace, because everybody know dat Pathos is
pathetic…… but back to de story…
So de battle ragin’ on in de Land of de Risin’ Sun (like darkness fallin’ quick dis rounds…!) an’ is because de Finance Minister Not-Yet Ming tryin’ tryin' to part de adversaries….
Not-Yet should know dat 3rd parties does always collect de most blows.. but poor fella….. Ram take he family an’ gone Antigua, Not-Yet tryin’ to talk to de odders who support Ram, Ram eh attendin’ no meetin’ (he say he had to meet he daughter in de airport), dissin’ de Acting PM Kammy (we Education Minister)… an is one t’ing after another!
Boy, meh head spinnin’…an’ we still have de corruption probes to
hear about… remember de watchwords of we nation “Together we aspire ,
together we achieve”? Well dem fellas turn it round to “Together we
conspire, together we are thieves! (together we deceive!)”
Man, I jus’ watchin’ from de
sidelines… because dem fellas too deceitful.. part of it could be ah smokescreen
to make we forget the corruption rackets… an’ once we forget it…. den dey go
kiss an’ make up an’ everything
homky dory…..Dey have more tricks dan ah monkey! So de Cobra eh have nothin’
to say for now….it’s a pity but we come like de US Army…we still lookin’
for ah Few Good Men, instead of dese stupid l’il fellas playin’ dey egos…!
Ah doh know how many of alyuh watch de IAAF games in Canada, but yuh boy was ah TV peong for 8 days.. every night ah starin’ at de screen. But ah want to talk about we quartet in de 4 x 100 m run..
Here we had we boy, Ato, an’ 3 fellas age 18 yr, 21 an’ 16. De most inexperienced team in de whole competition. Ah hear de best of de commentators write we off… dey say we eh ready… but is when de gun go off we pass de baton off first at de end of de first 100, then Ato burn up de track for de nex 200, dey had to hose dong de track after he pass J ! We lose ah l’il ground on de third leg (remember de faster and more experienced athletes runnin’ now) , but den we pass off to Darrel Brown on de last leg…man, if yuh see dat 16 year old run… man is like dey release ah pack of pit bull behin’ him….! De young boy put dong ah hundred dey for dem, he just pass out man comin’ down de stretch, dey had to read de back of he jersey all de way to de finish line!
We make ah bronze, but hear nah, meh heart swell up like ah pigeon breast
wit’ pride.. 3rd in world! De least experienced team… who as dey
say, all dey had to rely on was good baton passin’, because only Ato is ah sub
ten second man among de four of dem…. what an achievement.. possibly de slowest
team on paper lick up de odders, just because of team work… leh meh hear it for
de boys!
Need I say more about management in dis part of de worl’? But leh we eh spoil de moment, dem fellas gi’ we ah moment of glory an’ for ah while we see what we could be….. dat golden moment have to preserved and forever etched in ……bronze!
Well, over the las’ weekend , we had a flurry
of public discussion (but not enough) on a show dat took place out west..
Apparently de Cancer Society of TnT hired an advertising agency to promote
a fundraising venture for cancer. Somebody
apparently told de Society that having an auction where people could bid on
young men and women to get ah date with dem…. Dey “contestants” had to
parade in front of a crowd and de bidding took place…
Welllll boy…! Some people say dat is ah throw back to slavery (a bit extreme, slavery was a LITTLE worse dan dat), how it eh right for people to be sold like cattle… others say is jus’ ah fun venture, de contestants happy, de crowd happy an’ dey raise some money (120,000 dollars or something so….).
My, my,
my…. obviously dey need de Cobra to lend some logic sense and direction to dis
discussion! J
Now in my humble assessment, personally I find de whole t’ing rather irreverent… firstly, yuh raisin’ money for people who really sufferin’, which is a life an’ death matter an’ I do not believe the actual victims were ever properly represented or given a portion of the show to actually say what cancer has done to their lives.. they were invisible (now, I didn’t go to de show eh, so maybe some people was dey… but I eh see dat in de media).
Next, yuh biddin’ for
dates with models (90% of dem women…), beautiful women… i.e women who aiming
for Coca Cola body shape, “nice”
face (whatever dat is…), etc…. what dat sayin’ to odder women (de vast
majority who would not be accepted in dat scenario)? Dey eh beautiful, so dey
cyah be up dey? An’ of course it is not within we culture in any real sense…
Now, watch meh… if it was ah evening out with ah
celebrity or something, dat woulda be ah little different (yuh see how some
athletes lend support to AIDS, muscular dystrophy etc…?).
Maybe, dat woulda be de way to go…… but deh eh ask me, sooooo…….
Now, ah not condemnin’ those take part, eh, ah
sure dey were concerned about de victims of cancer, ah doh believe dat dey is
prostitutes, ah doh believe dey intended to propagate stereo types,
etc…. but ah t’ink we should focus on why dis country which have ah
boom in oil and gas, cyah seem to find money to look after cancer patients!
Why
we have to be havin’ all kinda shows and sideshows which pittin’ people
against each odder, rather dan havin’ dem together for ah common cause….
Wey
we cancer facilities?! Dat is where
we should be focusin’ we efforts… on ah failed (un)HEALTH(y) System!
Yuh know wit’ all de ole talk goin’ on in de
political arena, ah decide to look closely at politicians to see if ah could
elucidate and explain to alyuh …..
HOW TO BE A POLITICIAN IN TnT.....
Say what
yuh doh mean, an’ doh mean what yuh say……….
It helps if yuh first practice to be ah fowl
t’ief…. yuh learn de art of takin’
what is not yours, makin’ ah quick
getaway an’ enjoyin’ de spoils at yuh leisure.
You must feel compelled to serve… Yuhself!
Dress nice… nobody who look sooooo good go be ah
damn scamp….!
Condemn corruption and avarice, once yuh frens
not involved!
Emphasise dat yuh is ah man of de people as yuh
step out yuh air conditioned Benz, flashin’ yuh designer threads an’ how yuh
work hard to get where yuh reach (but doh say how yuh do it…. dat might have
jail in it!).
Remember yuh loyal to Mother Trinidad and Tobago,
but have money stashed away in foreign accounts and a couple odder overseas
homes yuh could skate off to, if t’ings get too bad.
Remember dat democracy must prevail an’ de will
of de people is supreme, except wen yuh headin’ de party!
Anybody who has an opposing view must be
demonised as destructive to the social fabric, consortin’ with enemies of
democracy, an Opposition plant or havin’ a hidden agenda!
