Yuh know all de time ah was hoping it woulda go away, but  it stickin’ aroun’ like ah stray dog when yuh feed it…. an’ it about as nice too..! 

It appears that we have some Nigerians here in we jail who overstay dey time in de country an’ is two years now dey in jail an’ we cyah seem tuh deport dem.  On top of dat, de fellas getting’ beat up by odder prisoners an’ even de prison guards ah hear, till one actually get he hand break in 3 places.  

Den las’ week, one ah dem attempt suicide.  De Nigerian High Commissioner gone tuh see de people, is because dey tell she hurry an’ talk quick, an’ eh treat de lady wit’ de courtesy befitting de Head of a High Commission.  

Yuh t’ink we easy…? We repecks no one apparently.  Man start tuh say dat is because dem is African an’ especially Nigerian, why dey get treated so...  because Nigerians have ah reputation for being more slippery dan ah grease-dong eel…! But me eh goin’ all dey….

To me is simple…WE WRONG!   An’ it eh have no getting’ aroun’ dat.. yuh cyah subject people tuh dat kind of treatment, an’ dey cyah appeal to Human Rights Commissions or odder such because we withdraw from de influence of all dem t’ing.. nice footwork by de AG, eh….? He coulda play in EURO 2000!

Den de next clown who is now party PRO  (sorry, communications manager, now dat is TITLE!) say dat part of de problem is dat it eh have no direct flights to Nigeria.. so he does only travel to places whey it have direct flights….. How sad… ah guess he eh go too many places den?…  An’ furthermore, who ask him anyt’ing?! Dis is a GOVERNMENT matter, not a PARTY issue…! 

Den dey wonderin’ if de Nigerian High Commission would sponsor de return…. sure, as soon as Guyana decide to pay for all de people who across here.. not so?!  Dat is not de responsibility of a High Commission or Embassy, odderwise de Trini Embassies in de States woulda be bankrupt……!  

A simple case of Human Rights….or human wrongs in dis case…..  an’ tuh make matters worse..  when de Venezuelan Coast Guard was ketchin’ we fishermen, beatin’ dem up, throwin’ dem in jail, takin’ away dey equipment an’ shootin at dem, all ah we did vex… now we treatin’ odder people jus’ as bad…!   Dat eh right man… like dey say, do so doh like so, eh?! 

We could do better dan dat, man….now ah hear dey sendin’ dem back in four weeks time… well de amount ah time dey here, if I was dem, I woulda apply for citizenship! 

GOOD BALL SKILLS

Well ah see dey take Carlos “Don Juan” John, from TIDCO, move him to two Ministries (he mus’ be ah preacher!), an’  make Jack “Jacko” Warner chairman of TIDCO now.  

The fact dat he is ah party financier probably doh count… an’ de fact dat he seldom in de country because he is ah FIFA vice president doh count either..  an’ de fact dat  he have no trainin’ in Tourism or Industrial Development shouldn’t  count… he go learn on de job, man.    Ah mean he into football, so he collect de pass from Carlos, he go juggle he two jobs, fake ah chairman post an’ shoot for all de money he could get…!   Ah sure he go score….!

LABOUR PAINS

Well de joint labour body had elections over de weekend, de OWTU lose de Presidency, den complain dat de votin’ was “irregular” (naturally!),  refusin’ to accept de new President, call for new elections, an’ when people ent agree, dey throw everybody outta dey headquaters…. meeting done! 

If I cyah have t’ings my way, ah go take meh ball an’ go home…. An’ dem want to form ah political party?!  An’ dey cyah handle ah simple t’ing like ah election within dey own group?  T’anks but no t’anks… ah t’ink ah see enough, in fact ah see too much!   Charity begins at home, as does good  an’ intelligent behaviour!

SPARKS FLY

Well dey decide tuh upgrade an’ sell out all de NP gas stations, so government build new gas stations with miniature grocery in dem costin’ over $7M ah hear (each), give dem to private business to run, run out of money an’ de gas stations eh makin’ money… maybe because every corner in Trinidad have ah shop, an’ ah doh have to go by de gas station to shop for meh family?  

Perhaps de only t’ing ah does buy from ah gas station is gas an’ maybe ah ice cream or ah sweet drink?  Maybe ah gas station shouldn’t cost 7M to build, an’ de fella hired to see about de gas station changeover shouldn’t be someone who was fired from ah bank for “impropriety”?   

An’ why alyuh buildin’ gas ststion for private people to take over…?  If dey want it, let dem buy it an’ run it as dey see fit…. Dey wouldn’t be stupid enough to put ah miniature grocery in it…dey might sell t’ings like oil an’ brake fluid an’ such t’ings dat CARS need?  Wha’ yuh t’ink?  But den again maybe yuh wasn’t?
