Jumpstation: Mannish Manning; Never happen again; Box-ed in; Long live de queen; WI Boys; Yuh know is Christmas time...

Hmm.....de PM seems to be flexin' some muscle... he run up de chest of ah company board an' den fire one of he foot soldiers...

Story has it dat poor Mr. S (name witheld so ah doh get sue!) on de board of the North West Regional Health Authority, came out an' said dat de doctors had ah right to protest if dey was being attacked in de Casualty Dep't.....  Now dat always confused meh.....how come patients who in CASUALTY could attack ah doctor out of frustration (tired waitin', etc..)...? 

Now if you in Casualty, you supposed to be gettin' weaker wit' every minute...well, turns out dat people in de area near to de hospital does go to Casualty for everyt'ing from bus' toe, to picka jook to bullet wounds......jus' to avoid payin' ah doctor! So of course dey still have strength after 4 hrs, which is how long dey does have to wait, since dem is not emergency cases!

But back to de story......so apparently some irate patients been takin' dey rage out on doctors.. an' de doctors shut dong de unit till dey get security ...TWICE!  Which I fin' was ah bit much... ah mean no blood eh spill or nothin' an' yuh cyah expect to be 100% safe in any job, an' yuh also have to give ah l'il week or so for new security to be hired.... but Mr. S say (an' quite in order!) dat if yuh work conditions are unsafe yuh have ah right to protest.. he didn't say he AGREE wit' de manner of protest....

Manos get vex an' is because man lookin' for job for de Chris'mas....doh be surprised if yuh see him wrapping gifts or somet'ing...!  Manos say dey had ah "difference of opinion" (which probably mean de man was right!) ....wasn't aware dere was ah law against dat...?!

An' de High Court already hand dong ah order dis year prohibiting de members of dey Union from havin' any strike under pain of jail!  So Manos an' he Health Minister talkin' jail an' Mr. S. say dey have ah right to protest.... 2 man rat cyah live in one hole, according to de folk philosophy....

As if dat wasn't enough, de board of PETROTRIN decide to get some money from EXXON since dey sign ah contract statin' dat dey was supposed to drill 7 wells but only drill 4 (ah t'ink), an' want to stop dey....  De penalty is $250 million dollars...

Manos say "Doh min' dat, come an' do some odder work for we....an' we go forget all dat...". So dey fin' work for dem valued at US$25M, which means TT$150M, but de sum owed is TT$250M!  So what about de odder TT$100M?  De board say no way, gi' we de money.... so Manos vex wit' de board an' lookin' to make some "changes" ...dey should change he!

What it mean is dat odder oil companies could try de same skeff an' want to know why one company get let off an' why not dem?  AH still waitin' on de final settlement, but it will be interestin'...  Manos seem to be forgetting dat he jus' reach in.. he want to make gambage already....!  He playin' he want to fire people.. ah hope he know fire does burn, an' burn bad!

NEVER HAPPEN AGAIN...

Dat is what NHA (National Housing Authority) should stand for... ah cyah believe meh eyes dis rounds..... just before elections (coincidence?), de government decide to clean and spruce up de houses owned by de NHA... which is ah good idea mind you... some of dem houses was eyesores, some paint, some eh paint, some de doors hanging open, burst sewer lines, plumbing non functional, etc... de people say dey poor, ah lot of dem eh payin' de pittance (like $25 in some cases) of rent , but have Nike shoes and Direct TV, but we eh goin' dey.....at least not yet!

So dey hire workers to clean, paint, do some infrastructure work, etc.. an' ah mus' say dey do ah good job.... a lot of de places lookin' like human beings does live dey now....  When time to pay for the work done in a particular area (we doh really call names in dis broadcast..) dey fin' like Hollywood and all dem sports stars does do handy work..... Serena Williams, Jennifer Lopez, Franz Beckanbauer, etc appear on de lists of names for payment!

Well de NHA office nearly dead! Dey was supposed to hire 250 people, is because dey seein' ah list of over 1000! Wit' dat kinda work force, dey coulda BUILD house!  Nex' t'ing big protest by crowds of people (more dan de work force if yuh ask me) about how dey eh get pay... ah was happy to see dat de NHA hold dey hand on dis one... dey say not ah damn cent until dey clear up de list an' decide who work an' who eh work!

Suddenly protests die dong...now it have ah simple way to get to de bottom of dis.... fin' out who dem recruitment officers was an' fire dey so an' so! Simple!   I tell you to hire 250 people an' you come wit' ah list of over 1000.. so you runnin' de show?!

I cyah understan' de need for no big investigation.. it right in front of dey face....a s usual, everyt'ing have to have bobol an' skeff!  If yuh would pay people t'rough de bank or wit' a check, yuh wouldn't have dis problem... dat way EVERYBODY woulda have to go an' get ah ID card or walk wit' some form of ID.  But is because man always helpin' out he pardners, dey refuse to fix de system....

When yuh payin' cash on de spot, without ID, yuh mus' end up wastin' money... an' NHA an' URP is de most spiritual places to work....ghost gangs in abundance because of de same lack of transparency.. an' always de same excuse.. "Boss, ah doh have no ID"..well, brudder, go an' get one! Temporary ID cards suppose to be made while yuh wait for ah permanent one.. dis damn nonsense have to stop! NOW!

But some people of course have consistently benefitted from it, so is bes' we keep it so, I get my votes, you get your money..WIN-WIN..ent?! De only loser is de taxpayer!

BOX-ED IN.....

Well, if I didn't see it ah wouldna believe it...we had ah 15 yr. old girl fighting for ah title belt in Latin America(boxing)... an' she win it too....!

Congratulations to Ms. Salandy on a courageous performance.. however I have some SERIOUS reservations about dis issue......

First... dis chile is under 18, so how come she in professsional boxing when de rules of the country clearly state dat yuh mus' be over 18 to take part in professional boxing...

Nex' who de hell is dem trainers an' managers who would expose ah 15 yr. old school girl to the world of professional boxing, where dey eh have no head gear an' further, have dis chile fightin' big women in de ring?

What was de wretched hurry? Alyuh mad or stupid? De chile body still growin'.....you know de kinda damage repeated blows to de body an' head of a developing girl could cause? Suppose she get injured or disabled, what yuh go do? Yuh willin' to support her for de res' of she life? What de hell dem was t'inkin'? An' dey want her to fight for a world championship crown now?!

I was glad to see de Ministry of Sport sayin' dey wanted no part of dis fiasco and would assist in her training and education, but in no way would condone any professional fight done by dis young lady...  I woulda go further an' charge dey %*&#* for chile abuse an' get ah injunction prohibiting dem from managing any professional fight wit' her until age 18.

Dis is damn nonsense an' to my mind, rabid exploitation.... I have no doubt de chile talented and obviously very dedicated to subject herself to de level of training required for such a bruising sport, an' no doubt her trainers are competent too, but ah t'ink dey really overstep dey ambition in dis one.. an' ah hope somebody do somet'ing about dis situation soon, before we destroy one of we promising young people.....

LONG LIVE DE QUEEN....

Um Hmm.. last week was ah sad one for meh boy.... when ah hear Jean Pierre passed on... ah was t'inking to mehself, dat unlike last year, ah eh writin' no setta obituaries dis year... las' year, like nobody wanted to live.. every other week, some icon was passin'..... but dis one was one of de brightest light is sports boy... "Queen" Jean was awesome on ah netball court...

Ah still remember back in 1979 when ah siddong to watch de World Netball Finals in TnT an' we team was licking dem other WORLD teams like was ice cream!  Who could forget Jean as goal shoot.. togedder with Peggy Castanada up front an' ah deadly centre called Marcia Dimsoy...  Man, if yuh see passing and energy.....de soca rhythm was too fas' for dem.. dey couldn't keep up!

Dimsoy dominated de centre court an' up front, Jean an' Peggy had dem skippin'! Jean was deadly like ah missile.....has de record for de most goals scored by any player in a World Championship..... has the record of holding 3 national awards including de two highest; dey name de Sports Complex after her; she went off to Miami to do her Masters an' at age 38 was to become de captain of de college BASKETBALL Team..  Yuh could imagine at 38, keepin' up an' captainin' ah team with people dat could be yuh children.... dedication to excellence an' fitness!

In addition to maintaining standards of academic excellence....served as ah Sports Minister on de way.... Coached netball in de Caymans where she eventually succumbed to cancer.....

What ah woman ah tell yuh! Nobody could say anything bad about Jean.. caring, confident, quiet, dedicated, talented, walking tall.....she get' ah well deserved State funeral Wednesday (11th December) an' yes, flags at half mast to remember.... an' also to mourn de fact dat after dat team of 1979, we cyah seem to produce ah world beating team as yet....what happen, boy? Wey de young ones.... de sad t'ing is most of dem eh never hear about Jean, because as usual, we eh have no training videos, literature, nothing in de school syllabus to remind dem.....

If is one t'ing ah could say about Jean, is "character"...born from a poor family, educated herself, excelled in sport via dedication and effort, taking a sport where material rewards were not fortcoming.. if yuh playin' netball, yuh have to have ah nex' job...make dat clear!   But she still kept on, clean, decent living, helpful and ensured dat she children also get ah good education.  Was decorated among the 70 icons of TnT recently and recognisd by CARICOIM as one of de leading ladies of sport in the region.....

Dat is de true Caribbean woman...an' of course, she had to be ah Trini!  Well, de final whistle blow, an' she have to leave centre court, but rest assured she win dis game of life!

WI BOYS....

Well, de ole west Indies Team finally woke up an' put a handsome thrashing on India to win de One Day series.. apparently de licks in de Test Series served as a tonic or apparently dey cannot concentrate for more dan one day!

Anyway de usual performers, Sawan, Gayle , Samules kept goin' an' we pull off some convincing victories. Now we playin' Bangladesh an' we beatin' dem like ah buss-up-shut!  At dis point you may ask Banga-who? Yeah, Bangladesh.... de team rated LAST in world cricket...we gi'in' dem licks an' it have some people walkin' about skinning dey teeth an' feelin' proud!

Now if yuh eh beat Bangladesh, yuh real want ah beatin'...but ah suppose take it when it come.... Lawson, ah promising fast bowler take 6 wickets for 3 runs... ah world record!  Yuh never know when it might come again.. if yuh get sweetbread, is to eat it because heavens know when we come up against Australia early nex' year, we might be fastin' or at best, eatin' salt biscuit!

Now, I eh cryin' dong de team, ah jus' sayin' dat we have to prove weself against proper opposition...yuh cyah use de whipping horse of world cricket to give yuh ah boost...!  Come on, man.....!  So dey finishing nex' two weeks an' dey comin' home for de Christmas, den is de World Cup... ah hope it eh turn out to be ah cup of sorrows... but say wat, ah still behin' dem, eh.. after all, is WI boys!

Well is dat time of year again (an' belated Eid greetings to meh Muslim frens...), de ole Christmas time an'

Yuh have to stop tellin' people yuh livin' "after de green house" because everybody paintin'.....!

Dem malls an' dem have "winter scenery" up in dey showcase...... (now dat eh damn stupidness?!)

People yuh eh see whole year, decide to drop in wit' ah big smile on dey face and dey two han' swingin'.....because dey want to clean out yuh stocks!

De same expensive string of 200 lights dat was flashin' like sand fly las' year, refuse to work dis year!

People who cyah make ah verb an' subject agree in English, feel dem could sing de bes' parang!

Yuh didn't believe yuh co-worker could behave more stupid, until yuh see him at de staff Christmas party!
